Downtime issues resolved

In the afternoon our data centre fire alarm was triggered which released the fire suppressant gases. This had the side effect of causing a number of servers hard drives to go into read-only mode making the servers unable to fully function. One of the servers effected was the one hosting the media72 main site and support site. Data centre staff worked quickly to check the hard drives on the servers with problems and restore them to full functionality minimising any downtime. All servers are now fully functional, if you are still experiencing issues please submit a support ticket via the support desk.

Update: This issue has now been resolved, new sign ups can be made as normal. It turns out the issue was a power outage affecting the entire area around 2Checkout's facility. Our payment solutions provide, 2checkout, has been experiencing a sustained denial of service attack over the last few days. Unfortunately this means we have been unable to take any new signups automatically during this time. If you would like to purchase any Media72 products or services please contact our sales department directly sales@media72.net and we will be able to setup accounts manually until the 2checkout site is working again. Thankfully existing customers are not affected by this issue. We appologise for any inconvenience this has caused. On another note, we are in the process of setting up a new billing system and hope to have this up and running shortly. The new system will be a lot more flexible and easy to use and will benefit both new and existing customers.

Bingo server migration stage 3 complete

Stages 3 of migrating customers away from the bingo server are now complete. All reseller accounts have been migrated successfully to the shipstern.media72.net or teahupoo.media72.net servers. As part of the migration we have checked each website to ensure it loads, we advise all customers to check each website to ensure it is working correctly. If you encounter any issues please see our account migrations fixes support article where you will find fixes for the most common migration issues. All customers not using the media72 nameservers please remember to change to the new IP address asap. All websites (apart from customers who have a dedicated IP address) should now point to: 85.13.243.211 for shipstern.media72.net 85.13.243.178 for teahupoo.media72.net There are still a couple of accounts left on bingo that we will be migrating over the weekend. Please don't hesitate to contact support if you have any issues with your website after the migration.

Dear Customers, We are pleased to say the bingo.media72.net server has now been brought back online. As we were not confident the data centre hosting this server would remain stable we moved the server to an alternative data centre. As a result all IP addresses on the server have changed. This means all domains DNS records needed to be updated, if you are using the Media72 nameservers this will have been done automatically for you and you will not need to take any further action. If you are using your own nameservers you will need to point your domain(s) to the new IP address before it can work. Please change all references of 207.44.185.105 to the new IP address of 74.55.73.72. Thank you for your patience and understanding during this extremely frustrating time. Media72 Staff

This issues has now been resolved Dear Customers, It has come to our attention that the data centre hosting a number of our servers has had a major explosion. What follows is the notification from the data centre. "...electrical gear shorted, creating an explosion and fire that knocked down three walls surrounding our electrical equipment room. Thankfully, no one was injured. In addition, no customer servers were damaged or lost. We have just been allowed into the building to physically inspect the damage. Early indications are that the short was in a high-volume wire conduit. We were not allowed to activate our backup generator plan based on instructions from the fire department." "...Our initial assessment, although early, points to being able to have some service restored by late on Sunday. Rest assured we are working around the clock." The majority of our servers are unaffected as they are housed in a different physical location, however, the following servers have been affected by the explosion: bingo.media72.net shipstern.media72.net While the circumstances of this outage are completely beyond our control, we do apologise for the impact to our customers and thank you for your patience while the data centre staff work to restore power and service.
